The Challenge

DOWL is an engineering firm with over 475 employees, based in Alaska and with offices in seven other states. While DOWL had been working with HEO Tech since 2008, the company merged with HKM Engineering, Inc., not only doubling the size of the company, but complicating the Wide Area Network (WAN) system. Since DOWL had worked with HEO Tech for an Exchange update and a new phone system deployment, the company felt confident in HEO Tech’s ability to handle the merger from an IT perspective.

The Solution

Realizing that the growing pains associated with a merger needed immediate support and staff training, DOWL realized that their internal IT department would need assistance with the network merger. DOWL worked with HEO Tech directly to find a solution that worked, while facing complex projects and short timeframes to configure the solutions. Throughout the entire process, HEO Tech provided an Exchange upgrade, WAN upgrade, and network changes with switch & router upgrades between the two companies (2008), ShoreTel phones (2007/2008), virtualization to Hyper-V environment (2010) with an upgrade in 2012, and WAN upgrade, including Cisco routers (2014).

The Results

Since the solutions have been implemented, DOWL has improved network performance. The multiple offices are interconnected, making projects and communication more efficient. The network is stable and reliable, creating greater workforce productivity. HEO Tech’s level of expertise leaves the employees with confidence that they are getting the most value out of the services.
